Willow Edwards is one of the many competitors with aspirations of winning an award at one of the nation's largest dog shows. Her life is fairly mundane until she meets Frank St. Germaine. Frank rescues a show dog from an abusive owner and is introduced into a strange world of politics, petty squabbles, and treachery.
