PrefaceThe CHURCH Concerto - For PianoChurch buildings for millennia was, and is, man's greatest technological, architectural, and artistic of all creations. A physical, solid structure on planet Earth to represent the maker and container of infinity. Yes, one's very existence has been kissed upon. Your most intimate has been kissed. Just consider the term Omni. Omni means all. Within this contains every imaginable power - and imaginable love? No. The unimaginable. The solo instrument in this concerto must be one with gigantic magnificence; the king of instruments: the organ. According to scholars and academics, the term church originates from the Greek word for ecclesia: an assembly; the people. Therefore, the word Church has two meanings that has become interchangeable: Christians, and a meeting place for Christians. An Excellent Transcription The CHURCH Concerto was originally composed for organ. When I embarked on transcribing the piece, I did not foresee any issues. Both organ and piano scores were open in different windows of the composing software. The outcome was, not a transcription, but an arrangement: to the extent that I recomposed using notes at either end of both instrument's compass. Now, one can play this gigantic, monumental music on 88 b&w keys.
