Amusing, but only ocassional laugh out loud moments

Humor is such a personal thing... Bruce and Stan have written a fictional handbook on how to get along well in a church. Full of amusing comments and insights, this book rarely gets up to the level of "laugh out loud" funny. It succeeds at giving church life a good-natured poke in the side and encouraging Christians to relax a bit and laugh at themselves. The funniest moments are the dorky 1950s and 1960s era pictures that are used to illustrate the book that look like they were taken from Bruce or Stan's family photo album. The captions are quite funny. I give this one a B-.

This book is hilarious! I am the clerk in our very small Southern Baptist church; Chapters 16, 19, & 20 are my favorites. Truly enjoyed the entire book, bought copies as gifts!

Bruce & Stan have put out another fantastic book. Whether you have been going to church your whole life, or just a few months, they capture the humor & wackiness found in any church. Topics covered include joining the choir, the differences between Youth Pastor & Sr. Pastor, dress codes and more. A very fun read, and highly recommended. Mind you, I love most anything written by Bruce Bickel & Stan Jantz. Who says going to church has to be so serious!
