This is a detail good reference book on Chumash, a Southern California tribe. Readers will gain the insight on this first national citizens on their life, and culture. Page 28 mentioned that they dance and offer in winter solstice, similar to what modern times, hijacked by western religion! They use sea shells as medium of exchange, a Chinese tradition with their writing characters on left originated in shells. Page 127 told of this tribe made plank canoe, two thousand years ago. Readers can know of the past in museum books and what happen to them? Only museum keeps them alive or Uncle Sam put them in reservation?
