The Chronicles of the Making of a Philosopher Book 1
This book has been a long time in the making, and I have shed plenty of blood writing it, not counting the sweat and tears. But how could things be otherwise? After all, in this book, I explore the seminal events that define much of my formative years.
The motivation driving this work is twofold. First, I wish to provide a personal Testament to the wisdom and love of Saint John Paul the Great as revealed in the spiritual deepening and transcendent unfolding of my life. Secondly, I wish to share how the universal truth and spiritual force that infuses life into the words of Saint John Paul the Great have been excavated, realized, and found fulfilling in the experiences and challenges of my life.
This book shares the philosophical insights and spiritual discoveries made while traveling the Via Philosophiae in search of Lady Truth wherever She lay hidden in this rapidly changing and complex world, a world fueled by the pace and pulse of a technological supernova gone wild, a world enlivened by the scientific imagination but endangered by the lack of understanding of what that imagination leads to when nurtured in the minds of undisciplined and inhuman architects of short term expediency.
My goal is not to throw rocks, break bones, point fingers, or engage in the modern ritual of literary name calling. It is not any of the common activities that might lead one to suppose that this book is yet another one of those post-modern, messianic messages which constantly bombard us with doom and gloom by telling us what is wrong with the human species and how it ought to behave. Rather, I desire to share with you how I became a Witness to Hope by encountering the full meaning of the words of Saint John Paul the Great as revealed in the lessons of my own life. In essence, while narrating this one philosophical and also spiritual drama, I wish to illuminate the sentiment that Hope does indeed abound - and this is all.
With my feet firmly attached to Terra Firma and my ever deepening heart cast upward, I simply wish to relate how one solitary and ordinary person existing in this very complex, dangerous, fast paced, threatening, and often pain-dulled world, managed to hold onto his spiritual idealism while enduring the existential storm fueled by all the conceptual assaults of a conflicted world order, a storm which many lovers of Lady Truth must endure, and ultimately overcome, if they are to experience in-depth peace, the final frontier.
