MARCUS MY SON, First Peter 5:13. The story of Marcus begins with book one "THE BEGINNING OF WOES". It was in 26 A.D. at the inauguration of the ministry of Christ that the exciting story of Marcus the son of a simple fisherman begins. Repelled by the passive teachings of Jesus Christ, Marcus sets a course of adventure . After being captured by an Arab slave trader Marcus escapes and becomes a religious zealot fighting in the hills of Palestine intent on driving the Roman oppressors into the sea. From there he he goes to Jerusalem to work as a scribe for the rich merchant Joseph of Arimathaea. It is while at Jerusalem he sees the crucifixion of Christ. Although he sees the resurrected Christ, Marcus is plagued with doubt. Without the character of being able of living a Christian life he fights off belief. incapable of following the words of Christ he continues to live in denial. It is there while in Jerusalem he meets Saul an agent of the Sanhedrin who hates the teachings and the church of a resurrected Messiah. This is the same Saul who was to become Paul, the thirteenth apostle . Driven from Jerusalem to Rome by Saul, Marcus finally flees with his wife and their new born child to the barbaric island of Britannia where for twelve years he serves Rome. The bubonic plague followed by the emperor Claudius colonizing of Britannia and bringing the brutality of Roman oppression changed Marcus's life again. Marcus, now a widower, could not continue as a part of an imperialist system he hated. Book two titled, "WITH DEATH IN PURSUIT" is guaranteed to keep the reader awake wondering; what is going to happen next? Fierce and barbaric celtic tribes of the far away Roman colonies in what was then called Britannia are brought to life vividly and graphically. Book three, "THE LESSOR OF EVILS" takes Marcus and his new celtic wife from Britannia across Europe and back to Rome where he is forced to fight in the gladiatorial arena's of that brutal society. This installment is filled with detail of Roman society certain to intrigue. This the fourth book, "NO STONE LEFT STANDING" is the conclusion of the lifetime saga of Marcus, the son of Simon Peter. This stories end is woven together into an unexpected conclusion that is certain to surprise the reader. This is a story filled with adventure, romance, suspense, and swirling with unexpected twists and turns, while bringing to life the world and events of the First Century A.D. it is sure to be a must read.
