Tender relationships and sensitivity at Christmas

This is an incredible book. It is well told, the illustrations are wonderful. It gives a picture of the different customs/traditions of the pre-Christmas preparations and food in a European country. The sense of closeness and understanding between the boy in the story and his Grandpa are conveyed in a masterful way. There is suspense, humor, tenderness and a wonderful winsomeness in this fresh, and interesting story. It is a book we read every year at Christmas.
