Interesting investigation of evangelical Christian ideas on the arts

As a social historian with a background in traditional Protestantism (not evangelicalism) I read this book primarily for its explanation of a mid-twentieth century Christian aesthetics (and here some of Gaebelein's points can be a bit vague). However, I was most struck by Gaebelein's essay "Evangelicals and Social Concern" where Gaebelein critiques some key issues in Christianity that are still wholly relevant today. Gaebelein's perspective on environmental issues, namely that humans have a cultural and biblical mandate in Genesis to be stewards of the earth is particularly timely for these present times. I first encountered this book as a historical source for my research, but I now name "Evangelicalism and Social Concern" as one of the best essays on how to live a Christian life.
