A Refreshing Look at Chinese Words

This book caught my eye as I was looking for something inventive and creative for a change. It is a great idea, telling a simple story of a farmer and his work. The farmer captures a wild horse to assist him. What makes the story unique is its use of Chinese symbols as characters. The horse is actually illustrated as the Chinese word for horse with incredible calligraphy by Peter Rigby. It demonstrates how representational many Chinese words are. Over all John Lewis' book is exceptional, beautifully presented, well told and to top it all off it is a basic education in reading the Chinese Language.
