Best Beginner Picture Dictionary

This is the best picture dictionary we've seen. The key is that it gives the French pronounciation of each word right under each word and picture (you don't have to keep flipping to some pronounciation guide in the front or back). Thus, it is useful for young French readers and for adult helpers who have little or no French language background (like us). It also gives most of the relevant words that a beginner needs. It has a good sized picture for each word and only about 12 words per page, so the pages are not too cluttered. This picture dictionary is great for new French readers to use on their own, or for adults to share with toddlers. We got it to share with our 1 1/2 year old. We wish there was a companion phrase book. Get this picture dictionary first.
