The Chicken Stories: Our Stories with Grandma

My grandchildren, Astrid and Ethan, often asked me to tell them a story. Astrid and Ethan shared their ideas as to what each story should be about.

Astrid has always been involved in looking after chickens and has increasingly become interested in different breeds of chickens. She had entered one of her favorite chickens, Snowflake, in a local fair and won the Best of Show. It all began on our hobby farm before she was six years old. Her interest along with Ethan's grew and I knew this was an opportunity for the three of us to create a variety of stories centered around chickens and our hobby farm. The chicken stories are the beginning of a continued interest for Astrid to become a future chicken farmer and her knowledge of breeds is developing at a rapid rate. Both Astrid and Ethan love living in our rural community where opportunities to live and learn on a hobby farm are abundant.
