The Chicken Named Waffle is a silly rendition of the idea "always be yourself." Waffle imagines what it is like to be other animals, but with Thanksgiving approaching, her mind ventures off into day dreaming about what it is like to be a turkey. She thinks of all the hype about turkeys and wonders what it must be like to have your very own parade. She even thinks about the turkeys who go to the Whitehouse and thinks it must be something special. Waffle's mother is quick to remind her of the unique gifts she has within herself. After reflection, Waffle finds her voice and it gives her a big purpose on the farm.
This book has a humorous way of portraying her thought process and self discovery! She learns the value of being herself.
