Never underestimate the power of a mother's love for her newborn

Genre: Sci-Fi Title: The Charon Covenant Author: Brenda Munday Gifford Never underestimate the power of a mother's love for her newborn, now or in the future. The birth of a child on the moon is the trigger that starts a series of life altering events for the new mother and all who live on the moon. This Sci-Fi story has a deceptively slow start with Day One of a story that covers only six increasingly action packed days set out as chapters. Day One is the day of the birth for baby son Daryl Drew, mother Dara Drew and father Chess Drew. Day Two finds 'the authorities' preventing mother and father from even seeing the baby after being told the baby unexpectedly died of complications. But mother Dara refuses to believe 'the authorities' that her son has died and it is her certainty that her baby is alive that steadily pushes the story into higher gears as horrible truths are gradually exposed. Things get interesting when the heroes in this story learn 'the authorities' are aliens from a distant solar system. Of course, this being Sci-Fi, prophetic warnings are abundant from the importance of taking care of the environment before it is too late, to the need for the average citizen to be responsible for their own fate. Don't wait for the authorities to solve your every little problem! I found this debut novel an easy read with normal characters anyone could relate to, characters who grow as they face unexpected challenges. This is a book for all ages who delight in wondering what the future might hold, with an ending that gives me hope Gifford is already working on a sequel to this fascinating tale. Brenda Munday Gifford is a native Arizonian who has written since she was very young and has taken her love of science fiction and combined it with her penchant for writing. 'The Charon Covenant' was born of a recurring nightmare Gifford had while pregnant with her first child. Great Read, recommended by Pete Klein, Allbooks Reviews. [...]
THE CHARON COVENANT

I was caught up in Gifford's sci fi book. I cared about the characters because they were written as real people with fears and hopes and not just larger than life fantasy figures. In addition, I was captivated by the setting -- a colony on the moon and its true life possibilities. The action was fast paced and I can't wait for her second book to come out to see what's in store for Dara and company!
Unique Sci-Fi Adventure

I have just read The Charon Covenant, and I truly enjoyed it. It has a unique science fiction storyline, and the descriptions were well written. I was finding myself visualizing what it would be like to live on the moon colony. The tension and mystery had to be the most interesting part of the book. It kept me reading and wondering what was next. There are many surprises in store, and the action scenes were exciting. The Charon Covenant is a well written suspenseful action packed sci-fi adventure.
