A must read for all who want to serve God and Country

Chaplain Grooms does a wonderful job of sharing his decades of experience as a soldier and chaplain in an easy to read format. Wether you are a member of the clergy or simply a lay leader wanting to serve the spiritual needs of our military, you will find practical ways to develop a dynamic ministry for veterans.

Great Overview of American Military Chaplaincy

This book is a welcomed addition to any chaplain library, but is primarely intended to new or aspiring chaplains (and chaplain assistants) serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The book is well written, reads easily, and gives a good glimpse into the life and tribulations of a military chaplain. Special emphasis is given to volunteer chaplains, especially in the State Guards. Although written from a Christian perspective, the author does include information on Jewish and Muslim chaplaincy issues. As a Jewish Lay Chaplain, I highly recommend the book - especially to new or aspiring military and State Guard chaplains.
