The Chaozhou Book of Tea is the first, original essay on Gong Fu tea, the tea art from Guangdong province that has become a canon all over China in the last century. Written by a renowned scholar from Chaozhou in the 1957, and finally translated into English, the essay opens up this complex art from its quintessential elements, starting from its aesthetic connotations and meticulously enumerating utensils and preparation steps. The work is written in a minimal style; yet it manages to convey all the cultural and artistic depth the tea art has been nurtured in for centuries.

This volume, compiled in collaboration with local experts in Chinese tea and academic studies in Guangdong, pairs the Chinese text, originally to be part of a larger treatise left unfinished, with its translation, and notes are provided for who is just starting to explore this millenary art.
