The second in a series of acclaimed books, this nonfiction installment sees a retired Los Angeles Times editor reporting on a coalition of humans and aliens who between 1998 and 2001 engaged in... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Deftly written by Phillip H. Krapf (a 25-year veteran of the L.A. Times), The Challenge Of Contact: A Mainstream Journalist's Report On Interplanetary Diplomacy is an informed and informative report on a diplomatic and negotiated coalition between humans and aliens. A Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Krapf is particularly candid in recounting his own three on-board contacts with an advanced ET race and their invitation for Earth to join an intergalactic federation of planets. A fascinating study that presents our world as close to induction into an intergalactic federation of planets, The Challenge Of Contact is a welcome very highly recommended addition to the growing library of UFOlogy Studies.
Updated information (and apologies) from his first book

This book isn't going to change anyone from being a UFO skeptic to being a UFO believer. For the most part it is a follow-on to his earlier book, "The Contact Has Begun." The skeptics who considered that "science fiction" will no doubt find this one more-of-the-same; the believers who appreciated the data in the first book will appreciate the affirmation of that data in this book, together with apologies, implied or formally stated, for some of the statements that reduced the credibility of "The Contact Has Begun." There is nothing in the form of a new timetable. I recommend this book to anyone who feels a need to reconsider Krapf's credibility after the first book -- and I think this new book does an excellent job of reestablishing that credibility. (The new book also contains a nice 16-page appendix that presents a very understandable scenario for why the media have largely ignored UFO phenomena since 1950 or so -- a few years after the Roswell crash.)
Easy Story in a Down To Earth Style...True...Who Knows?

Do I Believe he's in Contact with an Alien group--maybe? Mr Kraft writes with such a common sense style that makes it seem hard to depict it as fiction. On the other hand, with a subject as abstract from our everyday life as preparing for alien contact without any evidence...a reasonable person may find it incomplete beyond keeping an open mind. The one key weakness to this and his first book is there simply are not enough questions answered for me. This is from the limited subjects covered (i.e. Alien Lifestyles, Basic Physics of Intersteller Travel, Why no concrete evidence to have "tested", etc. aren't addressed to any significant degree). For example...if he came back with something that could scientifically be confirmed as extraordinary it would aid his credibility and likely enhance readership in the book (message). It seems almost illogical for an advanced race not to recognize this to help get the ball rolling for eventual contact. The strength of this book and his earlier book "Contact Has Begun" is his newspaper oriented factual style and mainstream "normal" (i.e. UFO Skeptic) past. Overall...it flows well and he does a good job explaining his experiences with the "Verdants" (including 2 trips to their mothership behind the moon). They are described as the primary alien race from the "Intergalactic Federation Of Sovereign Planets" (IFSP) composed of ~27,000 different species. The Verdants are planning to contact us fully using ~873 carefully selected humans worldwide they call "Ambassadors or Special Envoys" who are tasked to accomplish specific duties over the next several years to confirm the existence of the IFSP to our world. What's most compelling are the requirements for selection to the IFSP...a mature...civilized...peaceful society as it moves out into the stars...otherwise we will not be allowed to traverse space much beyond our planet. It is in this area that we may fail the test and stall contact. Mr Krapf has some eye opening discussions with the aliens regarding: 1.) The Soul; 2.) God; (3) Religions vs Spirituality w/r/t God; 4.) Angels (Guardian); 5.) Reincarnation and a few others. The information is presented with minimal cultural filters (i.e. Judao-Christian, New Age, etc.).The second trip to the Verdant mothership (of which this book roughly centers on) is his appearance before a group of Ambassadors, Special Envoys and Verdants to evaluate his performance over the past 2+ years (1998-2000). The meeting ends with some key findings and suggestions both for him and for us a human race.I gleaned this book (like his first) is to inform and familiarize humans on the ET presence and plans. Thus...for me it was not life changing...just interesting. However...if true a new chapter may be soon upon us. That is where I find some serious digestion and evaluation is required of the material for each person to decide. A final comment is the book contents leads one to think about the choices we as society make towa
