WOW! Who knew? High finance is exciting!

I got this book accident, and I thought 'give it a try'. I found the novel to be riveting. The characters developed before my eyes. The plot and story line grabbed me and would not let go. For me it was a page turner well into the night. Showley

Frey keeps getting better

Stephen Frey delights again with his latest---this is an excellent read. I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers; Frey does an excellent job building suspense, weaving the fasinating goings-on of the world of high finance into his story, and keeping the plot twists coming at a faster and faster rate as the story unfolds. I've been a fan of all of Frey's books to date, and though I had previously felt his first book (The Takeover) was his best, in my opinion The Chairman has now taken the top spot. A wonderful read---highly recommended.

Great action-packed thriller!

Stephen Frey is every bit as good as John Grisham when it comes to building suspense, hiding the real bad guy until the latest possible moment, and keeping your interest throughout the book. I read this from beginning to end, finding it hard to put down. Romance is somewhat lacking, but then this is not about romance, it's about power, intrigue, murder and plan Bs. I can't wait to read other Stephen Frey books now.

Another Good Frey Book!

The main character in this book Christian Gillette is elected Chairman of Everest by one vote.Upon gaining the title of chair- man an assassination attempt is made upon his life.His limousine explodes as he is about to go to the funeral of the late chairman.Twice more attempts are made on his life. His rival at the other equity firm Paul Strassi is constantly trying to undermine Gillette.He has insiders at Everest who are reporting to him. He also has a security firm that is owned by Everset that are also trying to do him in.The McGuire brothers are behind the attempts on Gillette's life.Ben Cohen, and Marcie Reed Everest Company partners are also involved in this plot to do in Gillette.There is also a "dark angel" who is the unseen planner behind these actions.His identity will shock you. If you like corporate intrigue this is the book for you.This book shows that you can trust no one.
