"THE CENTURION'S SPEAR" is the story of the Spear of Longinus, the bloodied weapon the Roman Centurion used to stab the side of The Christ while the condemned one hung from the Cross. It follows the Spear's tumultuous existence over the next twelve centuries through three interlinked tales. Each tale, or volume, unfolds the various arduous, but connected lives of those who come in contact with the Spear and wield its sacred power. Three different men, in three different centuries, who have profoundly much more in common than just the Spear.In Volume I, Gaius Cassius Longinus, a battle-hardened Centurion of Rome, is assigned to guard the crucified Jesus. But while watching Jesus, Longinus stabs Him in the ribs with his spear, ensuring Jesus' death. Volume I follows the Centurion's life after the day of the Crucifixion, from his love for the prostitute Irena to his mystical studies with the Druids of Gaul and a recondite understanding of the Weapon in his possession.It is the 4th Century, A.D. in Volume II. A young boy has found a sacred relic of the early Christians in the ruins of an ancient Druid temple on the Isle Of Mystery in Old Britain. It had been placed there many generations past by Joseph of Arimathea. For reasons beyond his immediate comprehension, the lad connects with the relic; the Spear Of Longinus, and comes to understand It and command Its apparent magic, while keeping It in the guise of a Druid's Staff. The boy's name is Myrriddin. The world would remember him as Merlin.Volume III--The time of the 3rd Crusades. Liam Arthur Mason, a Christian Crusader in the service of Richard The Lionhearted, is captured by the Muslim army led by Salah al-Din. While in captivity, he comes to know the great Muslim leader, as well as meet the love of his life, Najeeba. And, Mason comes into the rightful possession of the Spear of Longinus, as well as the great King's Sword, and awakens a Power beyond anything the world has seen.
