The Celtic Fisherman's Wife is a collection of narrative poems that paint a picture of a year in the life of a Druid wife, her husband, and others who live in their community in an imaginary village loosely set in ancient western Ireland. The narrative also has a certain understated tension around the wife's yearning for a baby, and how the gods help. The poems are organized into an arc of four seasons, starting with winter. Each section has several of the gods or goddesses and activities often associated with that season. Several of the poems are in folk song rhythm. A glossary and other information at the end of the book give historical reference.
