Everyone in Wonderland remembers the girl who fell down the rabbit-hole. Almost no one remembers what happened to Wonderland because she did.
The Cheshire Cat has always known more than he says. He appears when it suits him, vanishes when it doesn't, and answers every question with another question - because the truth of Wonderland is not a thing you can simply tell someone. It has to be walked into, sideways, the way everything in Wonderland is done.
Long before Alice arrived, the Cat made a bargain with the old order of Wonderland - the Queen of Hearts included - to keep the peace between the waking world and the mad one. Alice's arrival cracked that bargain open. Her escape didn't close the crack. It widened it.
Now the Kingdom of Hearts is crumbling into a deeper madness than even Wonderland's own, the Mock Turtle has stopped singing, and something is eating the borders of the map itself - turning familiar places into blank, gray nothing. The Cat, who has spent his whole existence refusing to take anything seriously, has to decide whether to finally take something seriously before there's no Wonderland left to grin about.
To do it, he'll need help from the only creatures strange enough, brave enough, or foolish enough to follow him: a White Rabbit who has finally run out of places to be late to, a Dormouse waking up for the first time in years, and a new girl who fell down a different hole entirely - one who isn't at all sure she wants to be a hero.
The Cat's Grin is a whimsical, wandering, and quietly poignant journey back into Wonderland - following the character who was always watching, and asking what happens to a nonsense kingdom when even nonsense starts to run out.
