The story and the history takes you through 5 generation of one family. It highlights the individuals who fight for freedom through the voters box and military action. The novel describes the way of life of the Irish Catholic in education, worship and in politics. It is is a story about individuals and their daily life:: love, death, raising children, socializing, entertainment and joys and tears of everyday life The book then takes you through the Potato Famine and the enviable emigration from Ireland to America . It is a story of Irish immigration to America and the hostility of some American groups toward the Irish Immigrants. It is a read of learning, laughing, crying, music, sports and shows the reader the contributions the Irish made in helping Chicago become one of Americas great cities. .
