I was hoping for an interesting historical novel in ancient Rome, but instead this book is an action/adventure video game in print. In spite of the good historical data in it, the plot never rises above the adventures of a group of "commando" style men, who are so inept, they should have never been assigned to do anything more than polish their shield and helmets. I suppose the writer has to cater to contemporary tastes, but I certainly will not read anymore of his books.
