Gigi and I read the book with pleasure! With Guy's literary skills you could "visually imagine" all the unusual perils and laughable episodes that happened to the Lovelace's on Salt Cay. My wife and I both being Construction Superintendents could appriciate but not imagine the issues they had getting the labor, materials, water, power etc. to the job site to build their impossible dream on such a small island. Guy makes you laugh often at the expense of their own trials and tribulations. The Turquoise colored cocktail they created. The rats that Pat and Diane had to deal with. The scary walk Guy and Pat took in the inkey dark night. The "too small" T shirt Guy wore to a business meeting. Finally, opening the resort and enjoying the fruits of their labor. Gigi and I want to go to that little island paradise after reading Guy's book.
WHAT A GREAT READ!

Having lived/stayed/grown up in various parts of Africa and Asia, I can certainly appreciate Guy Lovelace's "I'm going to solve this, just 'cause I can" approach to life, and life's humorous play with Guy (Yes, "The big Iron Ball" is exactly what I am talking about!). The Author and his wife certainly seem a couple on a mission to live their lives, despite life. What a great read, re-read!

This book almost reads like a mystery novel - I had trouble putting it down. I laughed, I cried, I said Oh No......a million times. I know it is true but it was unbelivable that things could just keep on happening one after another. It is very well written, and definately entertaining. I also liked the lessons of life mentioned throughout. Great book. I was sorry to see it end.

Funny, funny book about the trials and tribulations of building and running a hotel in the Caribbean... what seems like everyones dream job or escape from the daily grind can esily turn into nightmarish "adventures" as Lovelace has shown here... after reading this, it's amazing that he is still married to the wife he took to "the islands" !

Wonderful book about a couples adventures working in the Caribbean. Once I picked it up I could not put it down. Lovelace's characters are real and he leaves you feeling like you know them. By the time I was finished I felt like jumping on a plane to Salt Cay to meet some of these people. Funny and entertaining, appropriate for all. Lovelace is a new author and I can not wait for his next book. A fascinating piece of work.
