A hard read...

The preface to this review is a warning that it's not so much a romance as it is a tale of redemption, but it's worthwhile. Christian was captured by the French and endured unspeakable torture, Gillian had an abusive husband and Christian's young daughter suffered a traumatic experience which keeps her from speaking. This is a journey for all these wounded souls to get better and enjoy life again and some of it is tough to take. However, the love that blooms tenderly for all involved is so affirming and I enjoyed the sweet love scenes; nothing sordid but again, done with care. It's not a keeper for me because it was all I could do to read it once but I'm glad I did.
