I had a really enjoyable time reading this story about the history of this lovely home and the people who lived there.I am a huge fan of "If Walls Could Talk" on HGTV and love the local history of my beautiful hometown and it's colorful past.Jay did an outstanding job on this book an I would say it's a definite must read for anyone who loves history at all.BRAVO! Mr. Brandow. What cha say you buy another old house and write another one!I'll look foreward to that!

Great Job!!

I truly enjoyed this story from my birithplace. I learned so much of the history of the town and the people in it. Although I may be biased (we're related), I believe that Jay did a great job.

THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIR

This book is an inspiration to those who may have an interest in finding information about the history of those who have come before us. It takes you back to the early 1900's, in the days of the shipping and logging industry, and the families of 3 of the Captains of the Great Lakes, who lived in Bay City, Michigan. The author captivates his audience with his style of writing. (you feel as though you are there). This story will never get old! It is a good read. You will want to read it again and again. (a perfect candidate for Oprah's Book Club) GREAT JOB JAY!!!!

The Captain's Chair - A Great Read

I found this book most enjoyable. It was a lovely insight to a little bit of the history of Michigan, my home state. It was obvious that Jay really enjoyed researching and writing this book. I enjoyed his story telling, the humor and the lesson he learned from the opportunity to write this book. Good Job, Jay!!!
