I would like to agree whole-heartedly with the other reviewers in their analysis of the book. Eric's description of God appearing to Abram was absolutely masterful - attempting to describe the indescribable and getting the mesaage relayed in mere words. Cathy Newberry, Media Library Director

Genesis 11:31, And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they came to Haran and dwelt there. The authortakes this simple statement of fact from the Bible and makes it come alive by his vivid imagination of family life in te city of Ur and the journey from Ur to Haran by Terah and his family. The hardships faced by the family as they travel, the personal relationship between family members, and the dangers encountered on the journey are vividly discussed. Eric Allen is an excellent communicator and a master in the use of the English language as demonstrated by his account of the journey of Terah and his family from Ur to Haran. The Call, is an exciting book, well written and easy to read, and neverboring, I highly recommend it. I would give "The Call," a 5 star rating. I look forward to the completion of Abram's journey to Canaan in Russell Eric Allen's next book. Bobby G Johnson Retired NASA Accountant
Imaginative, Yet Plausible Biblical Adventure

Genesis 11:27-32 offers a very concise introduction to Terah and his family, including Abram. From these six verses, Russell Eric Allen presents "The Call," an engaging story about the man from whom Israel traces its roots - Abraham. Employing literary license and vivid imagination, Allen has created a plausible work of fiction, well-researched and documented, with enough twists, turns and surprises to take the reader on an adventure that is both entertaining and enlightening. I'm eager to read what happens next in this saga of Abram and Sarai - Abraham and Sarah! Robert J. Tamasy - author, editor and journalist
Best Novel I've Read This Year!!!!!

I never knew how a well written novel that is historically and biblically accurate could make the words of the Old Testament come to life! This novel is a work of historical fiction that draws on biblical and archeological records to tell the story of Abram, the father of the Jewish nation and a key figure in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The story starts shortly before Abram and Sarai get married and Abram experiences a visitation from God. The rest of the book chronicles the start of Abram's search for the land that God has promised him and the continuous efforts of his family to dissuade him as they wonder if he is crazy! I quickly became engrossed in the story of Abram and Sarai and their families and life in the the famous city of Ur and their adventures once they left Ur. I found the descriptions of what life was like (city layout, social structure, foods, customs, etc.) fascinating. The continuing evolution of Abram and Sarai's relationship was interesting to observe since it was an arranged marriage. At times I wondered how much of the book was based on actual historical records and how much was the author's conjecture. Conveniently, the author has a detailed accounting addressing just this question on a chapter by chapter basis on the website that accompanies the book. This book has it all: Love, Greed, Adventure! I'll never view the biblical account of Abram and Sarai the same way again! Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Don't forget to check the website to read the first few pages of the next book covering Abram's continuing adventures!
