Entertaining, Informative, and Valuable

This is one of the most entertaining business books I've read in a long time -- but it's also packed with valuable information for new and experienced business owners and managers. The bland cover design doesn't relate to the content at all. Also, Eichenbaum writes in long chunks of text, so if you just pick this book up and flip through it, it's visually intimidating. But take the time to read it, and you'll find excellent information illustrated by great examples written in an easy, comfortable style that will keep you turning the pages. Learn the rules Eichenbaum has identified, and you'll definitely win the game. Jacquelyn Lynn author, The Entrepreneur's Almanac: Fundamentals, Facts and Figures You Need to Run and Grow Your Business

A masterpiece of a book that will help anyone writing or tweeking a good business plan create a bett

What a book. Just wonderful. I've been reading books on business plans and books related to business plans on and off over the past couple of years. I have found a number of adequate books on business plans, but none of them really explain EVERYTHING you need to know in order to write a great business plan. The instant book doesn't tell you how to write a business plan. However, it is a great book to help you polish up the business plan you have already written. If you are interested in preparing a great business plan, or in need of some strategic planning regarding a business plan you have already written, then I highly recommend you get a copy of this book and study it. Included in this book is great content related to what the author claims to be the seven irrefutable laws that determine all business success. I have paraphrased them as follows: 1. Know your costs and make sure your revenues ALWAYS exceed your costs. 2. Know the REAL business you are in. 3. The PROCESS by which you do business is so important, even more important than the product, programs, or even the people. 4. Give your customers "EASY" instead of better, faster, or even cheaper. 5. USE YOUR EMPLOYEES WISELY and you will get everything done that you need to get done. 6. Be a leader that influences your employees in a postive manner. 7. Be as nice to your employees as you are to your customers. As you read this book with your business plan in mind I guarantee you will think of many things you have left out of your business plan that should have been included. I also guarantee that you will think of things that you have included in your business plan that should be changed. This book is a goldmine of information you need in order to tweek your business plan so your business will be as successful as possible. And if your business cannot be successful, then this book will have helped you figure that out, too. The book is not a masterpiece when it comes to the written word. As I read it I got the feeling that the author had dictated most of the book and had someone type it up for him. In law school my best buddy told me that it's not good to write like you speak. Writing is writing, and speaking is speaking. But the author clearly is a good speaker because I enjoyed reading the book. I would have liked it better if the "seven laws" had been included as headings or chapter titles in the Table of Contents. They aren't. And I would have liked the book better if the Chapter Highlights at the end of most of the chapters had been bulleted and paraphrased more rather than including sentences simply lifted from the main body of the chapters. 5 stars!
