There are more than 20 million people suffering from addiction not including alcoholics. Of these, 20 million people - 70,000 accidentally overdose and die each year. Combating these tragic losses are 125,000 doctoral-level therapists and 35,000 behavioral health hospital beds which together must support the more than 60 million people with behavioral and substance abuse disorders. The high number of afflicted and the low number of caretakers results in an extended period to heal these people. To heal those who need it with the resources we have would take dozens of years if outpatient services are deployed.
