The Bronxville Book Club

The Bronxville Book Club takes you beyond the manicured lawns of some of the most elegant mansions in Bronxville, an affluent suburb in Westchester that is "endlessly copied, but never matched."

As club members prepare for their monthly meeting, you'll meet... Kathryn, a divorc e forced to (gasp ) get a job to supplement her substantial alimony payments; Anne, owner of an upscale boutique, Annetiques, whose home renovation is prompting cries of outrage from her neighbors; Giselle, former Vogue model who now designs the lingerie she once modeled; Madison, high-powered investment banker and School Board Trustee; Lizbet, Yale graduate and ber volunteer caught up in the college admissions game for her daughter, a senior in the Bronxville High School;

...and their friends Hillary, Carole, Francesca, Sarah and Chelsea.

Eavesdrop on the lively discussion of I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother, and then follow each of the women home at the end of a highly entertaining evening.

Too Much Fun In One Book!

A total escape into the world of Westchester society. We have all met these character over and over in our lives; it read like a mystery seeing every background converge on one day. Highly recommended for anyone with a community of friends. A terrific look into the past for me as a native of Bronxville, but we all know ALL these women. Great persepective with a wonderful retro-twist.

Great book club selection

My book club was looking for a fun read after the holidays and this was our choice. It was perfect - it made us laugh and reminded us not to take ourselves too seriously. Personally I thought the characters were well defined and interesting and felt I got to know them. I wasn't looking for a saga that spanned decades, or a weighty tome by Tolstoy. The book was a slice of life in a very affluent suburb with some great characters. For me,the sign of a good book is when I don't want it to end - and that's what happened with The Bronxville Book Club. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to a sequel about these conspicuous ladies of consumption!

Pure fun

This book was delicious and delightful. The tie that binds this group of busy women together is getting together to "read" a good book. The descriptions of the characters and their homes are first rate. I felt like I was there. I laughed out loud at many points throughout the story, especially during the meeting when all the characters come together. I thought the book was better than chocolate cake - a real treat without the calories and the guilt. I like that the book was just the right length that I could finish it and still remember what had happened earlier in the novel, and not feel guilty that it would become one more book I couldn't get the time to finish. I enjoyed it and think other readers will too.

it's not just bronxville!

I couldn't put this book down, and when I did, I was sorry it had ended. All women from small, affluent, NYC bedroom communities can recognize themselves within the pages of this captivating book. We who live in the Bronxvilles of the world can see ourselves in at least one of these women, while denying we have so much more of some of the others in us.I hope the author writes a sequel; I want to know how Katherine's doing with her new nanny....

bronxville book club

As a native of Englewood, New Jersey, I totally related to this book. Although an account of fictional lives it can easily fit the reality of people in many upscale towns as well as anywhere in the US. "Bronxville Book Club" deals with the stresses of people living in an an upscale town, but it can fit just as easily into any economic medium as it describes the stresses that everyone faces in these stressful times. Even getting to a relaxing,enjoyable event, such as a regularly scheduled book club meeting is stressful! Kudos for Pam Hobson for hitting just the right mood and for sharing her insights into how we all live today. I hope there's a sequal - I'm looking forward to more from this author.
