fabulous book

After reading this book, anything is possible. It was a little hard to believe that Clyde survived the wilderness but in the back of my mind it could have been possible. The life of homeless people was an eye opener for me. The characters really came to life and were believable. I felt their struggles and compassion for each other. Clyde's co-workers were greedy and back stabbers but they were believable. Overall, the book was very good and I look forward to Mr. Bolin's next book.

An intriguing adventure of the pharmaceutical world gone wrong

In the name of profit, there is no limit to how far some will go. "The Broken Parachute Man" follows Clyde, a big player in a pharmaceutical company, as his life is turned upside down. Thrown from a hijacked plane, he finds that his company's newest drug may have disastrous consequences and that his predicament may have not been caused by an act of terrorism. With only people of dubious merit willing to help him, Clyde has his work cut out for him as he tries to set his world straight. "The Broken Parachute Man" is an intriguing adventure of the pharmaceutical world gone wrong.

I couldn't put it down...

The other reviewers so far seemed to be focused on lots of incredible things happening to the protagonist. I thought it was all well-explained as to be fantastic, but believable. I didn't have to suspend disbelief in the same way you'd have to suspend disbelief at almost any popular TV show. I thought the plot was mesmerizing. The survival story was great, then the picture of homeless life was particularly gripping. Then, in the back half of the book, while they un-ravel the mystery, the pacing was great. The entire way, the writing was crisp and accessible. In fact, I loved the narrative device that the author used, where the narrator didn't really understand anything technical about the medical field (just like me). The story stands on its own even if you don't understand the technical details that do emerge (the narrator doesn't understand the either). Honestly, I was a little nervous about reading a book described as a "medical thriller" because I thought the "medical" part would be dry. For me, the book was all thriller! My title isn't accurate, I was forced to put this book down for three days, somewhere in the middle. My mind kept going back to it, the writing was so compelling. Well done.
