This book provides the distinctions of communication that can have anyone be successful when presenting to people in their own company, customers, and anywhere. When reading it I realized I could take one chapter at a time and work on that until I can incorporate it in my presentations. I know that Alan offers workshops in businesses that gives people the practice and coaching necessary for them to get the information experientially. It's a very good informative easy to get book.
No IT specialist shoud be without!

This book was so helpful! I recommend it to every IT specialist out there. Carroll turns presentations into something the technical mind can handle. He explains the presentation in a language familiar to the IT specialist, but then turns that around and teaches the specialist how to explain technological concepts to the average person. He breaks down common processes that IT specialists are often asked to explain in such a way that anyone could understand it, and teaches the reader how to break things down like this themself. Carroll also shows that public speaking and presentations aren't something to be afraid of. He breaks them down piece by piece- everything from the structure of the presentation to how to maintain audience interest to how to administer a successful Q & A session, all along showing the reader how to excel at each of the parts. Any IT specialist who doesn't read this book is losing out. After reading this book, presentations are no longer something I dread; I feel much more confident in my ability to communicate effectively.
