Bridesmaid Susannah Wilson has poured her dreams into planning the trip of a lifetime. The only trouble is, her locked-up heart is being opened by a brooding out-of-towner. Billionaire best man Kane... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Very sweet! Shirley Jump weaves a sweet tale of two people who seem overwhelmed by their responsibilities, sense of duty, values and decorum. Susannah finds herself on the brink of personal freedom when Kane Lennox, "best man" blows into small town Chapel Ridge, Indiana, for her sister's wedding. Kane hides and disconnects from his NYC persona, seeking temporary respite in Indiana from a demanding job and domineering father by enjoying a " rural " lifestyle he is ill-equipped to function in. Susannah is engaging, witty, charming- she provides entertainment and a crash course in living "rough" in the days leading up to the wedding. A sweet attraction builds, and both question their futures, their goals, and what they really want from life as they re-evaluate the roles they've assumed out of "necessity". Kane fails to be honest with Susannah about his wealth, who he is- hoping to be seen for himself and not the dollar signs that precede the family name. When a shock arrival to Chapel Ridge unexpectedly brings the truth home, Susannah feels alienated, deceived and retreats. The reader is left wondering up to the conclusion of the tale if fences can be mended, if their goals and lifestyles can be merged to bring both parties satisfaction and completion. Being true to oneself, and the importance of compromise and honesty, is illustrated beautifully in this enchanting story. I recommend this tale to the "hearts and flowers" set.
