Book Overview

From the acclaimed author of The Clinic comes a pulse-pounding thriller about a society wedding turned deadly, for fans of The Unwedding.

The Kensingtons invite you to the society wedding of the decade. There's just one hitch. You might not make it out alive.

When a celebrity bridesmaid is murdered weeks before an exclusive society wedding, forensic attorney Holly Stone is drafted as an unlikely undercover replacement. As she works to unpick the lives of the notoriously private Kensington family, glamour-averse Holly discovers a new worst enemy in bridezilla Adrianna. Heir to a multimillion dollar fortune, Adrianna is set on throwing the event of the decade, and she won't let anything get in her way.

But beneath the veneer of poise and sophistication, Adrianna and her bridesmaids have secrets worth killing for.

As the wedding day gets closer, it's clear that one of the five hand-picked bridesmaids has committed murder - and a destination wedding is a perfect place to strike again. Soon, Holly finds herself on the playground of the rich and famous, but if she wants to find answers, she'll have to make it out alive.

Fast Paced

That certainly was a fast paced tale of murder, weddings, and dark secrets among the rich, and the tales they spin to keep them buried while still being untouchable in the limelight and on social media. I enjoyed reading this, especially the chapters from the viewpoint of Holly Stone, an awesomely smart forensic attorney who can find the clues that everyone else misses, a great gothic vibe and a devil may care attitude about what anyone else thinks. She and Fitzwilliam had a really great partnership in searching for answers to past events and what is currently going on during this wedding of the century (and boy is it over the top with decor, dresses, and unfortunately a rising body count!) between Adrianna and Mark. The rotating viewpoints and short chapters made this a great fast paced thriller and also much harder to figure out who the villain or villains were, especially with unreliable narrators and the skewing social media always does when there is blood to be spilled. It does get pretty dark, especially when relating to the past of some of the bridesmaids, there is drug use, abuse, and a whole bunch of rich people who behave badly since they think they are above the law. Props to the cover for hitting a gorgeous yet creepy touch. It matches the story quite well and I did enjoy reading this. And I would love to read another book with Holly and Fitzwilliam!
