Good read

I really enjoyed this. I love SL and her books are always entertaining. This series is great because you revisit so many well loved characters, plus the romance and adventure that is so much a part of Laurens' writing. Fantastic escapism

Laurens does it again

I really liked this installment of Laurens' Black Cobra quartet. The villains are nasty, the heroes heroic and the heroines have that essential combination of being assertive and independent, yet wanting to be swept off their feet by the dashing man of their dreams. I can't wait for the conclusion!

A bit different

I have many many of S.L. books. I read them over and over again and enjoy them each and every time. The books in the Black Cobra Quartet are just a bit different in the style of writing. It was surprising at first but with each subsequent book in the series I have enjoyed it more. The Brazen Bride is quite good and it's wonderful to revisit the characters from the Bastion Club series and the Cynsters. If you like Stephanie Laurens you will definitely like the Black Cobra Quartet. I can hardly wait till the final book comes out!

The Brazen Bride is a wonderful addition to the Black Cobra series. It is the third book in the series. In this installment we get better acquainted with Major Logan as he races to complete his part of the mission.. He and his friends are posing as couriers . Their task is to help draw out and kill as many of the Black Cobra cultists as they can and behead the person or persons at the head of the organization. This is not an easy task . Logan in a fight with the cultist aboard a ship finds himself going down with the ship. He lands unconscious and injured on the coast of a small place called Mon Coeur, Torteval , Guernsey. He is rescued by a woman called Linnet and her wards. This is where the book really captures my interest. The heroine is feisty and strong and a surprise to Logan. Surprising for a man in this time period, he is not put off by her behavior but is accepting and admiring. Once Logan regains his memory it is imperative that he continue on his mission and Linnet helps in an unexpected way. It is a thrilling and adventurous ride. I applaud the author for her strong characterizations of women and the men that love them. I am panting for the last book in Black Cobra series.

fun Regency romantic suspense

In 1822, Logan Monteith and three others fled Bombay using four different routes to reach England with information that will destroy a traitor to the Crown. Only one of the four has the genuine proof, but the Black Cobra Cult must go after each one as they have no way of knowing who carries the real evidence. Logan reaches Lisbon, a hot bed of Black Cobra Cult agents waiting for him. He manages to get on the Heloise Leger, a Portuguese merchant vessel bound for Portsmouth, but in the English Channel they run into trouble from the weather and from cult assassins. On Guernsey, another shipwreck leaves many dead with one survivor. Linnet Trevission takes in the amnesiac and heals his other injuries. He admires her courage and skills, but as his memory returns he knows he must complete the mission. However having been seen with Linnet by the Black Cobra assassins, he takes her with him as he travels to the estate of the Duke of Wolvestone. The late Regency romantic suspense story line is refreshed by having most of the adventure in England yet also contains constant exciting action as the tough yet seemingly inept Cult mount attack after attack. Fast-paced throughout, fans will enjoy this engaging Black Cobra entry as the lead couple is another delightful pairing of a brave man with a brazen woman. Harriet Klausner
