Grandmother knows best.......

This delightful, adventuresome traditional Regency is about Melissa, the last of four sisters, approaching "spinsterhood" and being pressured by her parents to accept any marriage proposal-in their minds any will be good seeing as Missy is six plus feet tall, and must therefore be undesirable to the opposite sex. Melissa despairs of ever meeting anyone, and she wants to hold out for a love match. By chance, she sees a dark haired handsome gentlemen at an outdoor event. Brett, the hero, tries to introduce himself to Melissa's ducal parents-but in doing so without an proper introduction-has offended their noble sensibilities, is considered a "brash American", and sent away-much to Missy's dismay as she can see that she really likes him. What develops is a highly amusing, fast paced, and dramatic "old school" Regency. The Duchess, Missy's Great Grandmother, is hilarious and the star of the book. Missy's parents are idiots, the villain is truly villainous, and semi-gothic adventure ala Jane Austen awaits. A bit far fetched but no less fun-4.5 stars!
