Settlers to the early 18th century Southern Appalachian Mountains encountered many challenges as they homesteaded their new lands. A wilderness where they would be forced to use all their talents and abilities to merely survive. Jeb Collins was born and raised in this wilderness as a first generation American. He claims heritage through the founding of the country. The native Cherokee become a big part of Jeb's life. His best friend is Wolf. A full blood Cherokee boy who was born on the same night as Jeb. Together they share many adventures with the whole of the Southern Appalachia as their playground. On one adventure, they rescue an escaped Cherokee slave woman who killed her captors and took off. Unfortunately for Jeb and Wolf, her pursuers on not far behind and they are all forced to take shelter in a mountain cave the boys know well, Panther Cave. The same cave where Wolf's parent chose to have him. With this new responsibility, the boys enter manhood. They are forced to do what normal adults would do to save the woman. It becomes a matter of life and death for all, but the boys remain calm and follow through. Saving the woman and themselves at the same time. With time, the boys are back at it and their adventures continue.
