The Botulinum Project contains a number of medical themes similar to the writings of Robin Cook and Stephen White. The story centers around a botulinum toxin impregnated transdermal patch and a medical student's role in its clinical trials. When a study patient experiences a psychotic break and commits suicide, an investigation reveals heavy metal poisoning, specifically mercury. Caught between wanting to please the department brass overseeing his work and a moral responsibility to the research participants, the student struggles to protect a fellow student in the project and discern the extent of the damage. This manuscript was constructed as a "clean" read without any profanity or sexual content and for the glory of God. I hope you'll enjoy the read. The author is a dermatologist and dermatopathologist on staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
