The Bottle in the Garden

On a breezy Saturday, the children discover a glass bottle half-buried beneath the old pear tree in the garden. Inside is a rolled-up map with a painted red X, strange symbols, and a rhyme that points toward the forest beyond their home.

Excited and full of questions, they gather supplies: backpacks, snacks, a compass, rope, flashlights, notebooks-and their bikes. The first stage of the hunt begins at home, winds through the back gate, and leads toward the lake. Along the way, they solve a stepping-stone code, uncover a hidden arrow carved into a garden bench, and realize the map may be only the beginning.

At the end, they reach the lakeshore and discover a locked wooden post with nine keyholes-one for each child.
