Lovely

While there are many books out there that are packed with more information - more details, more spells, more rituals for every occasion - few are as beautiful as the rich colors and lovely photos of this book. It covers all the basics, and true, not much more... but oh, how it covers those basics! The photos and imagery in this book capture a sense of the magick we seek in our lives, the beauty we seek in this world, and inspire an art to the craft and religion. This book is a lovely addition to any library not so much because it has any special and new information but because it presents its ideas with rich, alluring photos that remind you why we *want* to do ritual, cast spells and live a magickal life. The imagry and colors bring to life the ideas in a way we don't get in more verbal (and even more information-packed) books. i would suggest it for the library that has all the books it needs, but maybe lacks a bit of the ...spark.

Very good reference book

This book is a good reference guide for both beginners and experienced practitioners of Wicca. It gives a good historical account of witchcraft, describes the code of ethics, lists and explains the usage of ritual tools. Lucy Summers gives a good description of the sabbats and celebrations, such as handfasting and wiccaning. There are also very good spells listed towards the end dealing with love, money, protection, loss of a loved one, and others. The illustrations are fabulous and make the book a keeper.

Beautifully illustrated book

It's a great beginner book, it's in simple english, to the point and takes you step by step thru rituals, as well as explaining magickal tools and seasonal festivals. I'm not a beginner and I still found this book interesting.

Good BEGENERS book

This is a good book for begeners, or people who jsut want to knwo a bit more about wicca. Its not ment for an advanced student, but still good.

Great for beginners!

I've been a Wiccan for about a year and a half and I think this is a great book for someone who's just starting out. It spells things out for you very clearly without being overly ambiguous and bogging the information down with personal stories that are of little use (can you guess what my first Wicca book was?). I looked for a book like this for a long time when I was starting out: something that gives you the basics of some of the more technical stuff, so that you don't have to weed it out from a mass of other text. It is not, mind you, the only book you should start with, but it is a great resource and very pretty to look at, as well.
