Volume 10 provides translations for Book of the Dead spells 151 to 165. The spells in this volume were primarily aimed at protecting the corpse of the deceased in his tomb. BD 151 and 152 were aimed at protecting the tomb of the deceased as well as his corpse. BD 153 was more concerned with protecting the soul of the deceased from being captured in a fishing net, achieved through gnostic knowledge that the spell provided. The purpose of BD 154 is well stated by the title of the spell: Spell for not allowing that the corpse of Osiris-N perish. BD 155 to 160 pertain individually to different magical amulets that ensured the protection of the corpse of the deceased. BD 161 contains secret and guarded utterances that only the deceased was allowed to know, and they provide magic for the deceased to ascend to the four corners of the sky in order to obtain fresh air, while also protecting his corpse and the coffin that holds his corpse. BD 162 to 165 continues protections for the deceased. Other items of interest in this volume are the sequences of BD 151 and 152, as well as 162 to 165. This series is primarily aimed at the Egyptological community, but the translations and illustrations may be of interest to the general reader with curiosity about the spells, what they represent, and what was of value to the ancient Egyptians. The methods and conventions used for all volumes of the series are outlined in Volume 1, so this volume is essential for understanding the methods and conventions used in Volume 10.
