The Book of Proverbs: A Young Adult Focused Bible Study

Over the past several months, I've devoted careful, prayerful attention to the Book of Proverbs, shaping a guide that seeks the Bible's everyday wisdom skill for living well under God's rule. My aim is to offer a structured, accessible, and engaging resource that helps you read Proverbs deeply, grasp its poetic form and ancient setting, and translate its counsel into practical rhythms you can live tomorrow morning.
This study is designed with young adults (roughly 18-30) in mind, those stepping into independence, navigating work and school, discerning relationships, handling money, and forming a durable character. I envisioned this as a companion for seasons of decision and change: a call to fear the LORD (reverent trust), to love correction, to pursue integrity when shortcuts look easier, and to choose wisdom when folly shouts loud. Yet the wisdom of Proverbs reaches far beyond one age group. Whether you're new to Scripture, returning to faith, or a long-time student of God's Word, you'll find timely counsel in its vision of wise, just, and disciplined living.
Proverbs gathers Spirit-inspired instruction from Solomon and other sages, framed as family conversations ("my son...") and vivid contrasts (wise/foolish; diligent/sluggard; truthful/deceitful). It speaks to speech and self-control, friendships and conflict, sexuality and fidelity, pride and humility, work and wealth, justice and planning. Its poetry is memorable by design miniature parables meant to be stored, prayed, and practiced until they become reflexes of a wise heart.
Each part of this study will guide you with brief context, clear explanation, and hands-on application: reflection prompts, habit experiments, prayer exercises, and short memorization paths. We'll listen for Lady Wisdom's invitation in the opening chapters, learn how individual sayings operate in the middle sections, and trace the book's closing portraits culminating in a life shaped by the fear of the LORD and embodied wisdom in action. Along the way we will keep our eyes on Christ, the fullness of God's wisdom, who trains us not only to know what is right but to love what is right and to do it.
This study invites you to walk with the sages as they lift our eyes from noise and impulse to reverent trust in God the beginning of knowledge. My prayer is that your time in Proverbs deepens your love for Scripture, strengthens your daily decisions, and forms a life that is steady, honest, generous, and kind. As you engage these pages, may you learn to welcome correction, choose wise companions, guard your words, steward your work and wealth with integrity, and live well before the face of God in every season of life.
