The Book of Not Theatre

By Anton Bonnici

In The Book of Not Theatre, Anton Bonnici engages with the codes of reality that bring our world into existence to understand the purpose theatre has in this world and the opportunities theatre gives us for the creation of alternatives. Part theatre theory, part manifesto, Not Theatre is something else, Not Theatre is everything else, a deep look at the twisted relationship of ethics and aesthetics in a world where competition has taken over every single aspect of our lives, a destructive algorithm that is already enabled and promoted by the simple distinction of the performer on stage and the audience below as presented by theatre, and not just any theatre, but the theatre, the theatre in everything. This book is a work of folly that takes a leap across all fields of human study in an attempt to provide a rich encounter for both discussion and practice with a new world in sight, a world built with faith in community, awareness, freedom and love. A book for not only everyone who intends to make theatre or write for theatre, but for anyone that has ever sat down to watch any form of entertainment and is now ready to try out something else.
