The Book of Melanin is a short collection of poetry about the intersections of African and African American experience. Inspired directly by student-lead talks conducted by the Pathways to Black Male Achievement (PBMA) organization at UIC during Black History Month 2018, the chapbook features original artwork and poetry by Jefta Iluyomade, as well as quotes from notable figures, life advice, and meditations all meant to empower and motivate young adults of color navigating a difficult world.
