About Author Lubna Farhan was a candidate on BBC The Apprentice UK Series 15 in 2019. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession and describes herself as a Mumpreneur with two beautiful children. She was raised on a predominantly white council estate by her single mother and 3 other siblings of which she is the youngest. Here they faced racism and various types of discrimination in particular because their father had mental health issues which was and is still seen as taboo. Life was hard but she has been grateful and blessed. While her siblings struggled academically, she excelled on beating all the odds and 'society's' perception of what a girl from a broken ethnic minority family can achieve. This is her telling her story, for her kids, so they know... Preface I have divided this book into chapters with each chapter being focused on a specific topic or theme. Each chapter begins with me sharing my memories with the reader which are related to that topic so they can see, hear and feel what I did at the time of those memories, to put them in my shoes. The memories cover different time periods from me being a child, teenager and then adult. After sharing the memories, I then talk directly to the reader about the topic in general, my perspective and thoughts on it in a wider perspective, all of which of course are my opinion. There is a plethora of topics I can talk about; however, I have selected 12 key ones (for this first book) which will give the reader a good overview of my life. The topics I have chosen for this first book are ones I feel impact many people and therefore a wider audience will be able to relate to them. There is something in this book for everyone no matter if you are a teenager, working, or a stay-at-home parent. Disclaimer All memories and opinions are my personal account and viewpoint and I do not represent the whole of my family or the Pakistani and Muslim community. Also, I have tried to anonymise names as much as possible and have changed some where necessary.
