Intriguing Insights into being Human

The intro "What is a Normal Neurotic?" sets the stage for Fromme's premise that "most of the people we know-including ourselves- are normal neurotics." A highly respected therapist, he states that we're not one or the other, normal or neurotic, but both. He believes that some of us are more one than the other, and that we often slip in and out of these states as conditions around us vary. This doesn't necessarily mean we are sick. The book's format consists of questions and answers. A few examples are "When does a person need help?" and "How can I find a good doctor?". Chapter Headings are punchy and to the point. "How to Know Whether You're Sick or Healthy, Bored or Troubled." "What a Grown-up Is and How to be One." "Marriages Get Better or Worse-But They Never Stay the Same." There is a helpful index, making it easy to find a particular subject.I found the Q and A format to be very effective. Fromme writes in an easy, understandable manner. While this book was published in the 80's, its message is timeless. He addresses the complexities of family relationships, the effects of adultery on marriages, hostility and much more. The book is informative, thought-provoking and provides valuable advice. It also manages to be quite entertaining while addressing serious usbjects. Excellent!
