Accepting an invitation to go trout-fishing in Montana with his crazy girlfriend Karen, he heads north from Las Vegas on his motorcycle. Not far down the road, he crashes into a car. The bike is totaled; Harry escapes with his life and several broken bones.

Facing a slow recovery, he lets his daughter, a lawyer in Georgia, make the arrangements for his rehabilitation. Given his renewed interest in golf, she ships him to The Dunes of St. Andrews, a retirement community with a rehabilitation center and a golf course.

At the Dunes, Harry meets a competitive group of women who play golf and run community activities, like the deadly book club. Willy-nilly, Harry is drawn into a dangerous power struggle that threatens his life.
