The Body in Medical Theater

Today, several professions are practiced in public and private health establishments, but the profession of the stage touches the sensibility of the patient and that of the public in proximity. The body of the actor and/or that of the patient, living or narrated, is manipulated and violated in the theater in order to stimulate and make the general public come out of its apathy in front of spectacular gestures symbolizing the life of the society.Studying this kind of violence in medical theater under different acts of violence performed towards the body of the patient or others actually raises questions related not only to the art of performance but also to the life and health of the patient.Certainly, the human body is exploited on hospital stages for the well-being of the patient, but other questions also arise concerning the dignity of the patient. What about the value of the patient's free and informed consent to the care of the theater workshops? This work will therefore show that the cultural program integrating theater in the care environment and their exchange workshops do have a major and real impact, both on the organizing hospital institution and on those who practice them.
