The Blue Ride Eagle is a book about the ancestors and descendants of John Thompson Miles and Maryann Almeda McBride Miles. This very well-known couple grew up in the rugged mountains of Northwest North Carolina starting in Wilkes County and later moving to Alleghany County. Even though both of these people have been deceased for over 60 years as of the time of this writing, the house, the country store, and the church that they built are all still standing as reminders of their great lives. John and Maryann are the parents of five children and 20 grandchildren. All of their children and 13 of their grandchildren are also deceased as of this writing. This book was named in honor of a local newspaper where John T. Miles was the editor. The name of the newspaper was "The Eagle". The family is now into the fifth generation from John T. and Maryann.
