Hrani Otkarsson, born in a blood pit, marked by a witch as a Valknut, a blood son of Odin. He becomes leader of the Norse guard of Rome and fights across the Middle East in it s pay. But as Rome collapses and Christianity rises, Hrani is oath sworn to his Christian tribune to flee from the Romans, carrying back to Scandanavia, a great treasure of the Christian god which Rome is desperate to capture and use to strengthen it s power. Hearing of his escape, Rome sends it s agents to retrieve the holy icon. Meanwhile, Hrani s Uncle, Hardjar breaks his word and steals the treasure and the runes of the Valknut forcing Hrani to fight his way across the northern world to track him down and regain his birthright and fulfil his pledge to Odin and his oath to keep hidden the treasure Rome craves.
