The fisherman is about marrying a blind maiden from a neighboring village and all forces are united against his efforts.This play is opened with a poetic prologue performed in form of some soft music using native instruments like samba and other types of local drums, shekere, thumb piano, bamboo flutes, slit drums etc. Throughout the romantic-comedy, the audience will learn something about the major problems facing Africa in particular, and the world at large. Societal problems ranging from the outright rejection or gross marginalization of disabled ones, the elevation of physical beauty, and wealth over virtue, certain ancient and backward traditions, to even terrorism and human trafficking, in some way, are all outlined in this play. And those who carry out such vices are called "foes of civilization," in this dramatization.
